Weather Update
Please continue to monitor your emails for contact from your professors/HPU about Monday night classes.
From the HPU Emergency Operations Team:
Updated: Thursday, Aug. 7, 12:26 p.m.
Hawai‘i Pacific University is closing its campuses at 3:30 p.m.,
Thursday, Aug. 7, in anticipation of Hurricane Iselle's projected pass
near/over O‘ahu. As announced yesterday, the campuses will be closed
Friday, Aug. 8, and Saturday, Aug. 9.
The closures include the university’s Downtown and Hawaii Loa
campuses, the Oceanic Institute of HPU at Makapu‘u Point, and all
military base locations. No classes or activities that are scheduled
from 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday or Saturday will be held. Additionally,
Monday, Aug. 11, HPU classes on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam will not
be held.
Only employees deemed as essential — with responsibilities related to
campus emergency operations — will be asked to report to work. For all
others, do not come to campus when it is closed.
On Thursday, the last university campus shuttle will depart from
downtown at 6 p.m., heading toward Hawaii Loa Campus. There will be no
shuttle service Friday-Sunday.
As a safety precaution, please shut down all electronics, including
computers, printers and monitors. If possible, unplug them. If your
office is in danger of flooding, remove electronics from the floor.
Please make sure to secure confidential information and lock all doors
before you leave.
The university's Emergency Operations Team will continue to monitor
Hurricane Iselle and Hurricane Julio’s progress and potential
impacts. Should storm-related issues impede normal operations following
Saturday, updates will be shared on Sunday morning on the university
website (
www.hpu.edu) and also HPU’s RAVE Alert emergency messaging system (
http://phone.hpu.edu).
Mahalo,
